The DDA is involved in the coordination of a great variety of bird monitoring programmes including common and rare breeding bird species as well as specific groups of bird species such as gulls and geese and swans. In addition the DDA and its member associations are breaking new ground with their central involvement in the federal wide monitoring programme "Monitoring of Bird Species in Germany" and the "Atlas of Breeding Birds in Germany" (ADEBAR) in cooperation with the Stiftung Vogelmonitoring Deutschland.
